Kingston data traveler R3.0 G2 review
Kingston is a leading brand in data storage devices and we decided to review their Data Traveler R3.0 USB stick / pen drive . This rugged piece of tech comes in 16 , 32,64 GB . The 16GB has 120MB/s read speed and 25MB/s write speed while 32 & 64GB have 120MB/s read speed and 45MB/s write speed. The write speed in 32 & 64GB data traveler is 20MB/s more than that in 16GB one. So what is the specialty of Kingston data traveler R3.0 G2 Well the storage is not going to change from normal USB stick but what you are getting is the rugged shock resistant as well as water resistant data storage device . It has rubbery coating all over it so even if you drop it from a height, rubber coating will absorb all the shock and prevent the drive from any physical damage. This automatically prevents your data from vanishing with your broken plastic pen drives. Another good thing about this pen drive is that it is water resistant. So fear no more of your little ones throwing your pen drive in water or accidently do their things on pen drive .
All this is good. It is USB 3.0 and Kingston claims 8x speeds than USB 2.0 . The speeds mentioned on the product box shows 45MB/s write speed. Well, we got around 38MB/s write speeds for the most of the part .It also reached around 43MB/s sometimes . I think the speeds are a bit lower than what I have seen on other USB 3.0 drives. I have seen USB 3.0 drives reach upto 80-85MB/s .
So if you are a really rough user or your pen drives often fall into water then this pen drive or Kingston Data Traveler R3.0 G2 is for you Also check out our Kingston hyperx cloud core headphones review .
