LeEco Le 1s ECO launch event coverage !

Yesterday we were at LeEco Supertainment event in Mumbai. Le-Eco have announced lot of things including a new device. The new device is being called as Le 1s eco and marketed as their first ‘Made for India’ phone!

Le-eco Le 1s Eco hosts similar techical specs specifications compared to Le 1s but there are slight difference like it has under-clocked Helio X10 octa core processor clocked at 1.85 GHz while le1s has 2.2 GHz. Also there are slight changes in the design. We werent able to determine whether it was le 1s or le1s eco, but looking closely we spotted the difference in design. Le 1s has all metal squared body while le1s eco has slightly chamferd edges giving it a little better feel in hands. It has all other specs like 5.5 Incell Full HD Display, Corning Gorilla Glass protection, 32 GB internal storage, 3GB of RAM, Dual Sim, 3000Mah battery, finger print sensor Similar to the Le1s device .

But, this event wasn’t only about the product launch. It was about the ‘Supertainment’, as Le-Eco calls it. This includes the vertical integration of Content, Services and Experience. So coming to the content, they have partnered with EROS NOW which will allow you to access more than 2000 latest movies on your Le device via LeVIDI app. Also they have partnered with Yupp TV to offer live access to 100 plus channels which you can access via there Yupp TV app which can be launched via home screen toggle. All you need to have is a good internet connection which would cost you a lot in these days.

Apart from this, they have partnered with Hungama to offer more than 3.5 million songs. Via their LEview app, you get access to 50 plus live concerts and you also get latest viral videos from YouTube. They are also planning to expand this partnered services in future to offer great media content.

Apart from offering the content, LE Eco subscription member will get access to services such as 5TB of LeCloud storage, Exclusive discounts, redeem coupons and other things. LeEco promises these services and content to be accessed from any Le Device available such as LeTV. The services covered under subscription are really good although we are skeptical about the response from the Indian Audiences as the history tells it that subscription model does not work well for them.

You can avail this subscription membership for 490 a month or 4900 a year which would be available free for one year when you buy a new LE1s eco phone.

The first sale will happen on 12th May at 2pm on and you can avail this phone for 9999 as an introductory first flash sale offer. After the first sale you will have to buy le 1s eco phone for RS 10890.  Le-Eco would sell about 1,00,000 phones in this sale lesser than 4,00,000 units which were sold in the Le1s flash sale.

There might be similar strategy follow ups by other leading smartphone manufacturers such as Xiaomi and Huawei although Le-Eco has a subtle advantage over it in terms of content. Le-Eco was primarily a content and media company apart from Hardware so we expect it to rule in this field which would likely form a competitive advantage for Le-Eco over other hardware companies such as Huawei or Xiaomi. Le-Eco plans to integrate the verticals of content and experience with its other product offerings such as Electric cars, Television and VR headsets. Although a clear strategy might be lacking on Indian customer acquisition and with the current partnerships, it is seen as a huge opportunity for Le-Eco to enter the Indian market.

In all, this is just a cherry over the cake for Le1s users although only the time would tell what would be the result of this strategy and response from the other manufacturers such as Xiaomi. All the best Le-Eco India!
